As of 31st December 2020, more than 82 million confirmed Covid-19 cases have been reported globally. Many regions are still reporting surging numbers of new infections as part of a second and in some cases a third wave of the pandemic.18.6 million new cases were reported in December globally and 51 countries reported their highest number of cases during the last month of the year. - 31/12/2020
The United Kingdom has recorded more than 41 thousand Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours creating a new daily record as a rapidly spreading variant of the coronavirus increases infection rates and the holiday weekend had an impact on the reporting of some new cases. - 29/12/2020
More than 80 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been reported worldwide since the pandemic began a year ago. Last week, an average of 580,000 new cases were registered every day. - 27/12/2020
17 countries globally have now reported more than 1 million Covid-19 cases. The most recent countries added to this list are Peru (the 5th Latin American country to surpass 1 million cases) and Ukraine. Worldwide Covid-19 infections have reached 79 milion and the death toll is 1.73 million deaths have been reported. - 24/12/2020
More than 40 countries around the world have closed their borders to travellers from the United Kingdom after detection of a new strain of Covid-19 which has spread quickly in London and south-east England. The new variant is believed to be up to 70% more infections than existing strains, but health officials say there is no evidence that it is more deadly or would react differently to vaccines. - 22/12/2020
According to India's DGCA, in November all Indian carriers transported 6.4 million domestic passengers - a 50.9% decline from the same period last year. India has now exceeded 10 million reported Covid-19 infections, however the pace of infections has slowed down from 98,000 daily cases reported in mid-September to an average of 30,000 daily infections reported in December. - 21/12/2020
